Alors qu'il n'est pas du tout donné favori dans ce combat face au prodige du clan Hyûga, Naruto s'en sort de façon quasiment miraculeuse. Si l'affrontement est conforme aux attentes — le héros se fait rétamer par la technique des 64 points du Hakke — tout change lorsque Naruto trouve le moyen de puiser dans le chakra de Kyûbi.
Dans un effort désespéré, Naruto charge directement Neji, qui utilise le tourbillon divin du Hakke pour repousser l'assaut déchaîné du jinchûriki. En toute logique, Naruto aurait dû céder après pris de plein fouet la technique de son adversaire.
Mais Neji baisse sa garde, se fait avoir par un clone, et se prend un violent coup de poing dans le menton. Vainqueur : Naruto Uzumaki.
Embarqué dans un combat qui le dépasse complètement entre les trois ninjas légendaires de Konoha, Naruto se retrouve à devoir affronter Kabuto, le bras droit d'Orochimaru.
Bien loin du genin faiblard de l'examen des Chuunins, le ninja aux lunettes se révèle du “même niveau que Kakashi”, dixit Jiraya. Normalement, c'est du tout cuit.
Alors qu'il essaie tant bien que mal de protéger Tsunade, complètement paralysée par sa peur du sang, Naruto prend la poussière. Après avoir “paré” une attaque au kunai avec sa main, le ninja le plus imprévisible de Konoha parvient à terrasser son adversaire en réussissant à lancer la technique qui lui donnait tant de mal jusqu'alors : le Rasengan.
Kabuto utilisera trop de chakra pour se soigner, ce qui l'empêchera de combattre pour le reste de l'affrontement. Naruto sera tiré d'affaire par Tsunade.
Contraints de se battre contre les miroirs de glace créés par Haku, Naruto et Sasuke ne voient pas le jour. Malgré la détermination du premier et le Sharingan du second, chacun de leurs assauts se solde par un échec cuisant.
Après avoir entaillé Sasuke à plusieurs reprises, le mettant hors-combat, rien ne peut logiquement indiquer que Naruto s'en sortira.
Et pourtant… submergé par l'émotion de perdre son camarade, Naruto libère les pouvoirs de Kyûbi enfouis en lui. Beaucoup plus rapide et puissant qu'auparavant, il parvient à frapper Haku et à démolir ses miroirs de glace… d'un unique coup de poing. Définitivement imprévisible.
Considéré comme l'un des plus grands combats de l'histoire du manga, l'affrontement dans les ruines encore fumantes de Konoha entre Naruto et Pain n'aurait pas dû finir sur la défaite de Nagato.
Au-delà du célèbre Talk no jutsu qui a convaincu Nagato de baisser les armes, le combat aurait dû s'achever lorsque le dernier corps de Pain encore en vie a capturé Naruto.
L'intervention désespérée d'Hinata change totalement le cours du combat, puisque les blessures que lui infligeront Pain sont la goutte d'eau qui fait sortir Kyûbi de sa torpeur.
Acculé face à un adversaire aussi féroce, Pain n'aura plus assez de ressources pour parer le Rasengan final de Naruto.
Tout premier combat de l'histoire du manga, le duel entre Naruto et Mizuki est totalement déséquilibré. À ce stade, le héros n'est pas encore diplômé alors que le professeur est un Chûnin, un ninja de moyenne classe. L'issue de l'affrontement ne devrait faire aucun doute.
Les mots réconfortants d'Iruka, qui a protégé Naruto et se retrouve bien mal en point, ont l'effet d'une bombe sur le jeune aspirant. Ce dernier met à profit ses rares connaissances du parchemin des techniques interdites pour réaliser un Multiclonage Supra. Lui, l'élève incapable de se cloner à l'examen de l'Académie ninja.
Une magnifique histoire, un peu trop belle pour être vraie.
Acculé pendant tout le combat contre l'hôte du démon à dix queues, Naruto n'avait normalement aucune chance de s'en sortir… mais c'était sans compter sur sa technique préférée…
…le Talk no jutsu ! Absolument imbattable lorsque l'affrontement arrive sur le terrain des valeurs morales, Naruto parvient à remettre Obito sur le droit chemin. Une performance exceptionnelle, surtout à l'approche du final du manga.
Ce combat, qui devait permettre à Naruto de faire ses preuves face à l'un des Kages les plus puissants, s'est peut-être soldé par la victoire du protagoniste, mais celle-ci n'aurait pas été possible sans aide extérieure.
Malgré ses immenses progrès en matière de stratégie, Naruto n'aurait pas pu se défaire du Troisième Raikage sans le soutien de Dodai et de Hashibi, qui lui ont permis de mettre au jour les faiblesses de son adversaire.
En 1 contre 1, ça aurait été une tout autre histoire…
Confronté à la plus grosse menace de la Quatrième Grande Guerre Ninja, Naruto n'aurait pas dû survivre au pouvoir libéré de la Statue du Grand Démon Hérésiarque, qui scelle les différents démons à queue — dont Kyûbi.
C'était sans compter sur le soutien de Sakura, qui a permis — grâce à son ninjutsu médical — de faire battre le cœur de Naruto jusqu'à ce que celui-ci reçoive une portion du chakra de Kyûbi.
Au tour éliminatoire précédant la troisième épreuve de l'examen de sélection des Chûnins, Naruto est confronté à Kiba. L'affrontement entre les deux vantards est plus serré que prévu, le ninja du clan Uzumaki faisant preuve d'une étonnante habileté stratégique.
Malgré toute sa combativité, Naruto ne doit son salut… qu'à un pet de stress, alors que Kiba s'apprête à lui asséner le coup qui le mettra K.O. L'odorat du maître d'Akamaru en prend un sacré coup. Déboussolé, il sera terrassé par la Naruto furie.
Face à la Déesse Toute-Puissante et Mère du Chakra, un seul résultat devrait attendre Naruto (et tous les autres ninjas de l'univers) : la défaite. Et pourtant, le ninja le plus imprévisible a réussi à triompher…
Sans l'appui de ses quelques alliés encore présents, Naruto n'aurait jamais pu espérer survivre à n'importe laquelle des attaques dévastatrices de Kaguya. Mais c'est ainsi, le héros doit triompher !
